EMU Depot Demolition & Upgrades

The project involved the demolition of an earthquake and asbestos condemned 1940’s building, major upgrades to the existing 1970’s and 2010 buildings as well as redevelopment of the demolished area.

The upgrades included roof access platform installation, traction pole installation, electrical works, new offices and work areas. The redevelopment of the demolished area included the construction of a new storage shed, car park, hard stand area, asphalt and track works.

The works were carried out with minimal disruption to the KiwiRail and Tranz Metro workforce who continued normal depot operations throughout the entire project.
